Ways to honour your word

📢 Are you as good as your word? One of my pet peeves is when someone promises reliability but then lets me down or doesn't meet their commitments. It's a common disappointment and truly unpleasant. In a time full of misinformation and frequent "ghosting," the value of keeping promises and staying true to your word is crucial. We all want people we can truly rely on.

🙄 Even carefully made plans can fail, and keeping promises isn't always possible. However, when you give your word to your team, you're building a foundation for trust and a positive relationships. Keeping commitments fosters strong, dependable bonds, leading to a collaborative and positive business environment which in turn can lead to a company's lasting success.

Every commitment, big or small, is powerful. Mastering them builds trust with clients and colleagues, setting the stage for future success. From a casual drink to critical investment decisions, each commitment shows your integrity. Don't be fooled by seeming trivialities; a solid track record of reliability is key to many benefits. It's not just about meeting expectations—it's about exceeding them, creating a legacy of trust that encourages you and others to achieve more.

Today's consumers pay close attention to business leaders' behavior and management practices. A key strategy for a positive impression is to fulfill promises to employees, improving public perception and team loyalty. Upholding commitments builds trust, respect, and accountability in the workplace.

✨ Ways to honour your word.

Jot it down. There's evidence to suggest that writing things down increases our likelihood of adhering to commitments, as it enhances their permanence in our minds.

🌟 Just say no. Certain commitments should be avoided from the outset. Refrain from agreeing simply to please others if fulfilling the promise is beyond your capacity. In the long run, your honesty will be valued more highly.

Know what you're getting into be for you make a promise. Discovering that the company you've just agreed to work with lacks integrity after signing the contract is something no one wants. Conduct thorough research before making that commitment.

✨ Try not to make promises based on a third party deliverables. If a third party fails to deliver, the responsibility still rests with you for not fulfilling the promise. Moreover, avoid the urge to blame the third party. Take responsibility for your commitments.

Occasionally, we all miss a commitment, which can often be fixed with a call and a sincere apology. However, if you often fail to keep your promises, it's important to seriously consider your behavior. Breaking a promise, even once, suggests you don't value your word highly. If you don't take your commitments seriously, how can you expect others to? Fulfilling promises strengthens your character and boosts your confidence by showcasing your integrity and reliability to yourself and others. #leadershipintegrity #createtrust #leadershipcoach
